ARENA League Team News
After our massive successes of the last few years, two promotions in two years and winners of Premier League B Final in 2019, we recommence an Arena League journey from the Minor Division. The team is picked (see attached) and we will be heading to Connah’s Quay on 13th November, coach leaving Stretford SV at 3:15pm.
It’ll be the first time a few of the team will have competed in the Arena League and we know, like always, our team will love the event and push for the most points possible. Good luck and enjoy yourselves.

Point Score – R1 10.10.21: It was great to be back
Yesssssssssssssss! It was great to be back last week with a new season of Pointscore. Lots of first timers taking part, excellent times being set and a host of promotions to Silver and Gold groups.
A massive thank you to all, competitors, parents/carers , volunteers and organizers who made last weekend’s event such a success, particularly considering we were competing against the many road closures in the area due to the GM Marathon.
This is the first event we’ve held in 18 months and the first we’ve managed completely without any face-2-face conversations with members on how the event runs. For all those first time participants, we hope the messages we shared were clear and helped you all enjoy the competition.
Well done to all the swimmers setting their R1 times for season 21/22 (see below) and to all of you promoted to the next group:
Promoted from Bronze to Silver: Maude; Gabrielle; Mia; Niamh; Anna; Adele; Shogo
Promoted from Silver to Gold: Lois; Seren; Aimee; Erin; Aziza; Frederick; Jota
Point Score Is Back
A brand new swimming season has started and this year, we are delighted of the return of Point Score. Six rounds of racing throughout the season for all our swimmers, to record progress in the different stroke disciplines, aiming for promotion from Bronze to Silver or Silver to Gold groups by bettering their times and achieving minimum standard times for promotion, racking up points with an aim to be the top point scorer in the season.
The Rules of Point Score can be found HERE and the event listing, noting the first event will be 10th October, is HERE.
It’s a great event for all our members [must be a member for at least four weeks before the event] to compete with friends and each of the races are seeded to ensure swimmers with similar times are racing each other. The event is also open to Water Polo members to enter.
For new members, the £2.50 entry fee allows swimmers to complete in up to three events. To gain a promotion, two of the standard times must be beaten, one of which must be the freestyle standard time. (Standard times are posted in the rules link above.)
Tom will speak with Performance 2 group directly about entering the event this season.
Burnley Bobcats “return to swimming” gala
Here are the entry forms and consideration times for the gala at Burnley.
Entry forms back directly to Tom please, by 10pm on Thursday 9th September.
Timetable from Wednesday 1st September
After a great deal of work with SSV and TL, we are at last returning towards a consistent timetable. Having published this to members in our newsletter w/e 27 August, the Club online Diary is now updated with the session times for swimming and water polo. Let’s hope that soon, other events will be populating the agenda, both competition and social.
Thanks to Lee, Fran, Tom and Committee members for constantly striving to have pool time as close to normal throughout the last 18 months.
