Stretford has a proud history of water polo and the club has won numerous national titles at both Junior and Senior Ladies level in the 1980s and 1990s. Currently, the club offers junior polo to both boys and girls from the age of 10-17 as well as a senior men’s team. It is hoped that the club will re-establish a ladies team in the coming years.
The Junior beginners sessions are held on Saturdays from 4.30 – 6.00 pm at Stretford Sports Village. No experience is required to join in with the junior water polo sessions although it is helpful to be a strong swimmer.
The Junior advanced sessions are held on Sunday from 7.30 – 9.30 pm at Stretford Sports Village. The first half hour of this session is training alongside swimmers in the Youth Development and Performance Squad.
The senior men’s squad is for more experienced players who have played junior polo in the past. The senior men train on Tuesday evenings from 8.30pm to 10.00pm throughout the year.
The junior water polo players compete in the Bolton and District league and the Manchester and District league.
