How fantastic was last week, with our first Club Championships in two years. A massive well done to everybody taking part, first time participants, medalists, Champions, new record holders and those gaining their county times.
There were lots of great races: wins by a fingertip, surprise winners, determination to finish, superb poolside support from all swimmers to each other – sibblings, friends and between the different squads (particularly well done to the older guys supporting the younger group competing for the first time).
Congratulations to the 27 Champions of 2021: Jaeden; Toby; Lily; Scarlett; Xavier; Rhys; Sadie; Daisy; Benjamin; Lawrence; Gabrielle; Anna; Ivan; Noah; Ehi; Lourdes; Oliver; Jared; Eleanor; Conor; Adrian R; Lyra; Chloe; Joshua; Isaac; Helen; Gareth
Personal favorite swim, as tweeted by the Club and later by Tom, was Luke Q competing in his first competition and swimming 395 of 400m freestyle with his goggles hanging off. Great determination by this young fella and with absolutely everybody cheering him on, we hope he looks back at the race and rightly feels proud.
All swimmer times are in the link at the end of this report, including a list of PBs, but let’s also list the new Lancs County times here, some swimmers qualifying for the first time:

Ivan L – 50 Free
Maks K – 50 Free
Lily D – 400 Free, 100 Fly

Finally, a thank you to all the supporters of the event: Elaine, Glenis, Phil, Anne C, Wendy, Mike D, David, Claire, Hanna, Nicola, Lizzie, Frankie, Anne R, Bonnie, Chris, Shelley, Debbie, Tina, Barbara, Helen, Mike L, Kate, Duncan L, Jared, Sue and of course Annie. Officials, sportsystems, timekeepers, announcers and guest of honours – without all these people over the three days, there would be no way we could have this as a licensed gala and it was brilliant you could support us.
A nip and tuck evening of racing in the first of this seasons Arena competition, with the team just pipped for the win by 2 points by Knutsford: 122 points to 120 points. Was great to see our relatively inexperienced team give a great account of themselves and really pleasing there were no DQs for Stretford.
Well done and we now look forward to the promotion battle next time around.

After our massive successes of the last few years, two promotions in two years and winners of Premier League B Final in 2019, we recommence an Arena League journey from the Minor Division. The team is picked (see attached) and we will be heading to Connah’s Quay on 13th November, coach leaving Stretford SV at 3:15pm.
It’ll be the first time a few of the team will have competed in the Arena League and we know, like always, our team will love the event and push for the most points possible. Good luck and enjoy yourselves.
We are delighted that the Trafford Club’s can have the return of our Christmas Cracker meet this year, after a hiatus in 2020. We look forward to welcoming back competitive swimmers from local clubs from Trafford and beyond for this Level 3 gala. Entries will open on 9th November and places will be limited so will be accepted on a first-come first-served basis.
The entry pack is below.
We are aware that not everybody can open documents saved as “sef” files, so for access to the SportSystems file, please email us at email@example.com
The four Trafford Clubs: Flixton, Altrincham, Stretford and Trafford #FAST look forward to seeing you in December.
Just a reminder, with swimmers and coaches attending the Burnley Bobcats gala this weekend, the training sessions on Saturday and Sunday morning are cancelled, but will return next week, 23rd and 24th October.
ALL training sessions in the evening this weekend will be held as normal.
Yesssssssssssssss! It was great to be back last week with a new season of Pointscore. Lots of first timers taking part, excellent times being set and a host of promotions to Silver and Gold groups.
A massive thank you to all, competitors, parents/carers , volunteers and organizers who made last weekend’s event such a success, particularly considering we were competing against the many road closures in the area due to the GM Marathon.
This is the first event we’ve held in 18 months and the first we’ve managed completely without any face-2-face conversations with members on how the event runs. For all those first time participants, we hope the messages we shared were clear and helped you all enjoy the competition.
Well done to all the swimmers setting their R1 times for season 21/22 (see below) and to all of you promoted to the next group:
Promoted from Bronze to Silver: Maude; Gabrielle; Mia; Niamh; Anna; Adele; Shogo
Promoted from Silver to Gold: Lois; Seren; Aimee; Erin; Aziza; Frederick; Jota
