Trafford Borough ‘Time Trial’ Meet
Good Evening All,
For those of you already entered into this event, unfortunately, Swim Trafford have needed to postpone the gala until next week, now re-scheduled to Wednesday 2nd March, starting at 6pm and ending at around 8pm. James Stannard passes on his apologies for this late alternation and hopes all of you that have entered are still able to attend. If you’ve paid an entry fee and are unable to attend, contact details for James appear below.
On the plus side, it does allow for anybody wishing still to enter to do so. A link to print off the entry form is given below. It can be returned directly to James via email by Tuesday 1st March (pass any payment directly at the event).
Good luck to anybody taking part.
A Message from James Stannard (Head Coach at Swim Trafford – the borough performance swimming squad), who is arranging to take a team from the Borough clubs to compete in the regional Micro League during 2016 (a little like a mini-Arena League). Opportunity to compete in a team event.
Good Evening All,
Please find attached an entry form for the time trial event we will be holding at the end of February
The event will be for swimmers aged 12 years and under who will be eligible to compete in this year’s Micro League. From the results at the time trials I’ll register swimmers with the league and pick the team for the first meet in March.
I’ve put an entry fee of £5 for all four races which is to be used to help cover the costs of competing in the league.
Any questions please let me know. Entries can be returned to me by email or to the Swim Office at Stretford (for info., this is located up the stairs and rather than turn left to the cafe, turn right. You will find the swim office on the right hand side and a letter box to post entries).
Many Thanks
James

Exciting new adult and junior masters swimming sessions Saturday afternoons
The club is pleased to announce the launch of two new sessions – a junior masters session (aged 12+), and an adult masters group (18+).
The sessions will be held between 3.30 – 5.00 pm, starting from next Saturday February 27th at Stretford Sports Village.
Both sessions will give teenagers and adults the chance to enjoy coached sessions that aim to be social and fun as well as focusing on personal fitness goals or stroke development. Please note that we split the pool so that the juniors and adult masters will swim separately.
For the junior masters sessions anyone aged 12 and over is welcome including people new to the club. The session will cater for our existing older swimmers when they still want to swim for fitness or fun, but no longer want to train to compete. We are also hoping to atttract back some swimmers who may have left for the above reasons. We are also keen to recruit new swimmers – these may be older and have been put off from joining the club because they are not strong enough swimmers to join our current main group. Please spread the word around friends and encourage them to come down and give it a try.
The adult masters will have the lanes tailored so that everyone can be grouped by experience or ability. Please talk to the coaches about what you are looking to achieve, so that they can help.
The cost of the session is either our normal membership fee and the ASA Membership plus £5 a session (either poolside or standing order). Alternatively, we are also offering a new Pay As You Go scheme where new or returning members can pay only the ASA fee plus £6,50 a session.
Finally, we will soon be offering new Aqua sports activities for anyone aged 12 and over and will keep you posted. These activities could include things such as open water swimming, wake boarding, canoeing. The group will be asked to input into the decision making process on what activities are chosen. We are hoping to subsidise these activities to help keep costs down.

Competition Event Update: 2015
The club has a busy run up to Christmas with a number of team and individual galas.
Club Championships on the 4/5/6 December. (See separate blog post for details).
Pointscore – the next two dates are Sunday 11th October and Sunday 15 November.
We have 4 club galas – our final competition in the Central Lancs League and 3 big Arena league meets. The Arena league galas are our biggest team galas of the year with ages ranging from U11 to the over 16 Open age group. If you are selected for these please can you reply quickly to the invitation so we can finalise the line ups.
There are also 2 individual galas – the Greater Manchester Autumn Meet in Wigan and the Trafford Borough Christmas Sprint Meet at Stretford. We would encourage swimmers to enter the latter meet – details will be posted soon. This is good opportunity for swimmers to gain their first competitive experience, or for seasoned competitors to post some PBs. It is also the last opportunity to get Lancashire County Entry Times.
Club Champs 2015
The Club’s 2015 Swimming Championships are fast approaching and the gala programme and entry forms will soon be posted here, at the Club Desk and via eMail.
For those of you who haven’t been before we encourage all our club swimmers to enter this annual event. Races take place over 3 nights – Friday 4th to Sunday the 6th December. There are trophies and medals to be won in each race. Races are split by age, sex and distance and start at 25m for our youngest competitors. We will also be running our popular “spot on” competition with the chance to win a cash prize.
Entry forms need to be returned to the club desk, along with payment by the xx November (TBC).
If you were lucky enough to win a trophy last year please can you return this (engraved and clean) by the 1st November.
Sport England Grant
We are delighted to tell you that SASC have been successful in bidding to National Lottery Sport England for a grant of nearly £10,000. The money is to be spent on extra coaching, pool hire and off site aqua fun activities such as diving, open water swimming and paddle boarding for our older swimmers (12+) and to help us create a Junior Masters at the club, where teenagers can swim for fun and fitness as well as compete. In addition there’s money to double our adult coaching sessions and start a possible Adult Masters section. There is also money put aside for an underwater camera to help swimmers further develop their technique.
If the aqua sports programme goes well, we can expand it to include younger swimmers too, so watch this space!
The process of recruiting two new part time coaches to lead on the project has commenced and if all goes well we expect to have new coaches in place by the end of October 2015 .
We are really keen to involve as many parents and swimmers in this exciting new project so please feel free to get in touch with your ideas, suggestions or offers of help to Jo Moores at jomoores1@ntlworld.com or 07709 284 445 or ask at the desk for more information.
